20 for 20 Challenge.

A Renewed Commitment to Our Youth, Shared Recovery, and Future Prosperity

The Need.

The Hire Opportunity Coalition imagines an America where every employer shows a commitment to hire and develop young people who face the greatest systemic barriers to employment. Right now, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, as many as 1 in 4 youth in the U.S. (upwards of 9 million) are disconnected from school and work. At the same time, American companies have committed to an equitable economic recovery that includes building diverse talent pipelines reflective of the communities they serve, and that ensures that historically overlooked talent has every opportunity to participate in the next great American comeback story.

The Idea.

The re-launched Hire Opportunity Coalition (HOC), formerly the 100,000 Opportunities Initiative, helps build the capacity of American companies to hire, retain and upskill opportunity youth. We believe that deep partnerships with high-capacity community based organizations (CBOs) who serve these youth locally are critical to achieving our mission. As such, and to help our country recover from what has been one of the most challenging years in a generation, we are devoted to forging new relationships between 20 top employers and 20 top CBOs across the country before the end of 2020, and to celebrating their intersection in a public media campaign.

Here's how it works.

You share a priority or challenging hiring market. We’ll identify local CBOs that can help fortify your recruitment pipeline with motivated young talent.

We introduce you to the organization’s leadership so that you can evaluate their work.

If mutually beneficial, you enter into a nonbinding partnership to work together on future hiring needs – and count as 1 x 1 progress towards our 20 for 20 goal.

At the close of the campaign, we will spotlight and celebrate all participating organizations through targeted paid advertising and earned media outreach.
