Joel Simon has currently serves as Managing Director of Workforce Strategies for Burning Glass Technologies helping communities, institutions and workforce development practitioners gather, utilize and apply data on skills, jobs, industries and career pathways. He has served in a variety of public and nonprofit roles supporting community development, educational attainment, and multi-stakeholder partnerships. He currently serves on the board of community development agency West Side Forward and as Secretary of the board of Inner Voice, a homeless services agency; is a member and past chair of the Higher Education Advisory Committee of the International Economic Development Council; serves on research advisory councils for the Hiring Opportunity Coalition and the Graduate Network. He has also served as faculty for the Institute for Sustainable Communities, the Institute for Higher Education Policy, the International Economic Development Council, and the Accreditation Council of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Joel earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern University and a Master of Arts from the University of Chicago, and lives in Chicago’s West Lakeview neighborhood.
